Art of Play set a $15 million price tag for its mechanical mascot following a public disagreement with Kelly Clarkson over whether the automaton was for sale.
Art of Play, a novelty shop on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, initially stated Molly—a singing and dancing mechanical bird—was not for sale after an incident involving Kelly Clarkson. Co-owner Adam Rubin announced Tuesday that the automaton is now available for $15 million.
Clarkson claimed on social media that she was discouraged from purchasing Molly after visiting the store, comparing her treatment to a scene from Pretty Woman. Art of Play countered that Molly is permanently affixed to the wall and offered Clarkson alternative birds at lower prices, including a $2,000 option available to take home immediately.
